Butter cake

A butter cake is a cake in which one of the main ingredients is butter, hence the name. Butter cake is baked with basic ingredients: butter, sugar, eggs, flour, and leavening agents such as baking powder.

Ingredients

  • 250g butter
  • 250g sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 250g all-purpose flour
  • 1tespoon baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

Steps

  1. Grease and line deep 20cm round cake tin with baking paper.
  2. Sift flour and baking powder together.
  3. Preheat oven to 180ºC.
  4. Cream butter, vanilla and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  6. Fold Sift flour into creamed mixture.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  8. Drop the tin gently onto the kitchen bench to eliminate air bubbles.
  9. Bake 45 minutes or
  10. Until it will become golden brown, and when you press the top of the cake it feels firm. Or cook until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  11. Let the cake cool in the pans 10 minutes then turn out.
