Butter cake
A butter cake is a cake in which one of the main ingredients is butter, hence the name. Butter cake is baked with basic ingredients: butter, sugar, eggs, flour, and leavening agents such as baking powder.

Ingredients
- 250g butter
- 250g sugar
- 5 eggs
- 250g all-purpose flour
- 1tespoon baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
Steps
- Grease and line deep 20cm round cake tin with baking paper.
- Sift flour and baking powder together.
- Preheat oven to 180ºC.
- Cream butter, vanilla and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Fold Sift flour into creamed mixture.
- Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Drop the tin gently onto the kitchen bench to eliminate air bubbles.
- Bake 45 minutes or
- Until it will become golden brown, and when you press the top of the cake it feels firm. Or cook until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pans 10 minutes then turn out.
